We're focused on building the first true "AI Chief of Staff" - a tool that not only remembers information but proactively helps you leverage it, working alongside you as a true collaborator. This ranges from real-time co-editing to background processing that surfaces insights when you need them.
The Role
We're seeking a product-minded Full-Stack Engineer who loves to invent, build, and ship new user experiences. You'll be leveraging both your engineering and product design expertise to craft the first true "AI Chief of Staff" to augment human intelligence.
What you'll do
- Report directly to our CEO and work closely with our Founding Engineer, Lead UX Designer, and CEO to architect and build product experiences that integrate state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to enable intelligence in our product.
- Build real-time collaborative interfaces where Mem's AI can actively co-edit notes alongside users
- Design and implement offline-first experiences that sync seamlessly across devices
- Create asynchronous workflows that enable AI to work on your behalf even when you're offline
- Develop and integrate data ingestion pipelines from various sources (calendar, email, etc.)
- Craft intuitive UI components that make complex AI capabilities accessible and delightful
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on new features based on user feedback
- Collaborate with the team to define our product roadmap and technical architecture
Example Challenge: Building AI Co-Editing
Imagine building a feature where users can see Mem's AI as a literal cursor in their document, actively helping them draft content in real-time. You'll need to:
- Design a real-time collaboration system using WebSockets that shows the AI's cursor position and typing
- Create a smooth, natural-feeling interface where AI contributions appear fluidly, not jarringly
- Implement a system that allows the AI to access relevant context from the user's knowledge base
- Ensure the experience works across devices and handles offline scenarios gracefully
- Build intelligent conflict resolution when both the user and AI are editing simultaneously
This requires deep frontend expertise, real-time systems knowledge, and product intuition to create an experience that feels like true collaboration rather than just automated suggestions.

- Have prior experience in complex engineering environments.
- Are a self-starter with the ability to work independently and solve complex problems. Prior founder or startup experience is a plus.
